Delete your account
Last updated 9 September 2026
You can delete your WhereToGo account and everything in it, permanently, at any time. You do not have to give a reason and we will not try to talk you out of it.
In the app
This is the quickest way, and it happens immediately:
- Open Profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm. Your account is erased there and then, and the app returns to the sign-in screen.
Or by email
If you have lost access to the app or cannot sign in, email privacy@getwheretogo.com from the address you signed up with, with the subject “Delete my account”. If you signed in with Google, use that Google address.
We check that the request comes from the account's own address, then delete it. This is done within 30 days and normally within a few days. You will get one email confirming it is done — and nothing after that, because there will be nothing left to email you about.
What gets deleted
Everything tied to your account is erased:
- your profile — handle, display name, photo, age, bio and privacy settings;
- every post you made, and the photos in them;
- your comments and your messages in place chats;
- your likes, your saved places, and who you follow and who follows you;
- your stored location and whether you were out;
- your notification tokens, so no device of yours can be pushed to again;
- your sign-in, so the account is closed and you are signed out everywhere.
Signing up again later with the same email or Google account gives you a completely new, empty account. Nothing from the deleted one comes back with it.
This cannot be undone. There is no restore, no grace period and no archive we can retrieve it from. If you only want a break, you can sign out or make your account private instead.
What may remain, briefly
- Backups. Encrypted database backups roll on a 30-day cycle. Your data disappears from those as they expire; it is never restored into the live service.
- Other people's copies. If somebody screenshotted or saved something you posted before you deleted it, that copy is theirs and outside our reach.
- Records we must keep. Where the law requires us to retain something — for example a record relating to a report of illegal content — we keep only that, only for as long as required.
- Usage and crash data. These are tied to a random installation identifier rather than to your account, and expire automatically: usage data within 14 months, crash reports within 90 days.
Deleting the app is not the same thing
Removing WhereToGo from your phone stops it running, but your account and your posts stay on the service. Ask for deletion as above if you want them gone.
